1 David[1] built houses for himself in the city of David. And he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. (1Ch 16:1) 

New International Version

1 After David had constructed buildings for himself in the City of David, he prepared a place for the ark of God and pitched a tent for it. 

New International Reader’s Version

1 David constructed buildings for himself in the City of David. Then he prepared a place for the ark of God. He set up a tent for it. 

King James Version

1 And David made him houses in the city of David, and prepared a place for the ark of God, and pitched for it a tent.
