Psalm 97

1 The Lord reigns, let the earth rejoice; let the many coastlands be glad! (Ps 72:10; Ps 93:1; Ps 96:11)2 Clouds and thick darkness are all around him; righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne. (Ex 19:9; De 4:11; De 5:22; 1Ki 8:12; Ps 18:11; Ps 89:14)3 Fire goes before him and burns up his adversaries all around. (Ps 21:9; Ps 50:3)4 His lightnings light up the world; the earth sees and trembles. (Ps 77:18; Ps 96:9)5 The mountains melt like wax before the Lord, before the Lord of all the earth. (Jos 3:11; Jud 5:5; Ps 68:2; Na 1:5)6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness, and all the peoples see his glory. (Ps 50:6; Ps 96:3; Isa 40:5; Isa 66:18)7 All worshipers of images are put to shame, who make their boast in worthless idols; worship him, all you gods!
