1O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure. (Ex 15:2; 2Ki 19:25; Ps 107:32)2For you have made the city a heap, the fortified city a ruin; the foreigners’ palace is a city no more; it will never be rebuilt. (Isa 17:1; Jer 51:37)3Therefore strong peoples will glorify you; cities of ruthless nations will fear you. (Isa 18:7)4For you have been a stronghold to the poor, a stronghold to the needy in his distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat; for the breath of the ruthless is like a storm against a wall, (2Ch 32:18; Isa 4:6; Na 1:7)5like heat in a dry place. You subdue the noise of the foreigners; as heat by the shade of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless is put down. (Isa 32:2)6On this mountain the Lord of hosts will make for all peoples a feast of rich food, a feast of well-aged wine, of rich food full of marrow, of aged wine well refined. (Ps 63:5; Isa 2:2; Isa 11:9; Isa 24:23)7And he will swallow up on this mountain the covering that is cast over all peoples, the veil that is spread over all nations. (Isa 25:6; 2Co 3:15)8He will swallow up death forever; and the Lord God will wipe away tears from all faces, and the reproach of his people he will take away from all the earth, for the Lord has spoken. (Isa 1:20; Isa 30:19; Isa 37:4; Ho 13:14; 1Co 15:54; Re 7:17)9It will be said on that day, “Behold, this is our God; we have waited for him, that he might save us. This is the Lord; we have waited for him; let us be glad and rejoice in his salvation.” (Ge 49:18; Ps 9:14; Ps 27:14; Isa 26:8)10For the hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain, and Moab shall be trampled down in his place, as straw is trampled down in a dunghill.[1] (Isa 15:1; Isa 25:6)11And he will spread out his hands in the midst of it as a swimmer spreads his hands out to swim, but the Lord will lay low his pompous pride together with the skill[2] of his hands. (Isa 16:12; Isa 16:14)12And the high fortifications of his walls he will bring down, lay low, and cast to the ground, to the dust.

Praise to the Lord
1Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.2You have made the city a heap of rubble, the fortified town a ruin, the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more; it will never be rebuilt.3Therefore strong peoples will honour you; cities of ruthless nations will revere you.4You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall5and like the heat of the desert. You silence the uproar of foreigners; as heat is reduced by the shadow of a cloud, so the song of the ruthless is stilled.6On this mountain the Lord Almighty will prepare a feast of rich food for all peoples, a banquet of aged wine – the best of meats and the finest of wines.7On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations;8he will swallow up death for ever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.9In that day they will say, ‘Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.’10The hand of the Lord will rest on this mountain; but Moab will be trampled in their land as straw is trampled down in the manure.11They will stretch out their hands in it, as swimmers stretch out their hands to swim. God will bring down their pride despite the cleverness[1] of their hands.12He will bring down your high fortified walls and lay them low; he will bring them down to the ground, to the very dust.
Isaiah 25
King James Version
1O LORD, thou art my God; I will exalt thee, I will praise thy name; for thou hast done wonderful things; thy counsels of old are faithfulness and truth.2For thou hast made of a city an heap; of a defenced city a ruin: a palace of strangers to be no city; it shall never be built.3Therefore shall the strong people glorify thee, the city of the terrible nations shall fear thee.4For thou hast been a strength to the poor, a strength to the needy in his distress, a refuge from the storm, a shadow from the heat, when the blast of the terrible ones is as a storm against the wall.5Thou shalt bring down the noise of strangers, as the heat in a dry place; even the heat with the shadow of a cloud: the branch of the terrible ones shall be brought low.6And in this mountain shall the LORD of hosts make unto all people a feast of fat things, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of wines on the lees well refined.7And he will destroy in this mountain the face of the covering cast over all people, and the vail that is spread over all nations.8He will swallow up death in victory; and the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from off all faces; and the rebuke of his people shall he take away from off all the earth: for the LORD hath spoken it .9And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for him, and he will save us: this is the LORD; we have waited for him, we will be glad and rejoice in his salvation.10For in this mountain shall the hand of the LORD rest, and Moab shall be trodden down under him, even as straw is trodden down for the dunghill.11And he shall spread forth his hands in the midst of them, as he that swimmeth spreadeth forth his hands to swim: and he shall bring down their pride together with the spoils of their hands.12And the fortress of the high fort of thy walls shall he bring down, lay low, and bring to the ground, even to the dust.

A song of praise to the Lord
1LORD, you are my God. I will honour you. I will praise your name. You have been perfectly faithful. You have done wonderful things. You had planned them long ago.2You have turned cities into piles of rubble. You have pulled down the high walls that were around them. You have destroyed our enemies’ forts. They will never be rebuilt.3Powerful nations will honour you. Even sinful people from their cities will have respect for you.4Poor people have come to you for safety. You have kept needy people safe when they were in trouble. You have been a place to hide when storms came. You have been a shade from the heat of the sun. Evil people attack us. They are like a storm beating against a wall.5They are like the heat of the desert. You stopped the noisy shouts of our enemies. You kept them from winning the battle over us and singing about it. You are like the shadow of a cloud that cools the earth.6On Mount Zion the LORD who rules over all will prepare a feast for all the nations. The best and richest foods and the finest aged wines will be served.7On that mountain the LORD will destroy the veil of sadness that covers all the nations. He will destroy the gloom that is spread over everyone.8He will swallow up death for ever. The LORD and King will wipe away the tears from everyone’s face. He will remove the shame of his people from the whole earth. The LORD has spoken.9At that time they will say, ‘He is our God. We trusted in him, and he saved us. He is the LORD. We trusted in him. Let us be filled with joy because he saved us.’10The LORD’s power will keep Mount Zion safe. But the people of Moab will be crushed in their land. They will be crushed just as straw is crushed in animal waste.11They will try to swim their way out of it. They will spread out their hands in it, just as swimmers spread out their hands to swim. But God will bring down Moab’s pride. None of their skill will help them.12He will pull down their high, strong walls. He will bring them down to the ground. He’ll bring them right down to the dust.
