Proverbs 6:23

23 For the commandment is a lamp and the teaching a light, and the reproofs of discipline are the way of life, (Ps 13:3; Ps 119:105; Pr 10:17) 

New International Version

23 For this command is a lamp, this teaching is a light, and correction and instruction are the way to life,

23 Your father’s command is like a lamp. Your mother’s teaching is like a light. And whatever instructs and corrects you leads to life.
