Proverbs 26:20

English Standard Version

20 For lack of wood the fire goes out, and where there is no whisperer, quarreling ceases. (Pr 16:28; Pr 22:10)

New International Version

20 Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.

New International Reader’s Version

20 If you don’t have wood, your fire goes out. If you don’t talk about others, arguing dies down.

King James Version

20 Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
