Nehemiah 8:8

English Standard Version

8 They read from the book, from the Law of God, clearly,[1] and they gave the sense, so that the people understood the reading. 

New International Version

8 They read from the Book of the Law of God, making it clear[1] and giving the meaning so that the people understood what was being read. 

New International Reader’s Version

8 All these Levites read to the people parts of the Book of the Law of God. They made it clear to them. They told them what it meant. So the people understood what was being read. 

King James Version

8 So they read in the book in the law of God distinctly, and gave the sense, and caused them to understand the reading.
