Nahum 1:2

English Standard Version

2 The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord is avenging and wrathful; the Lord takes vengeance on his adversaries and keeps wrath for his enemies. (Ex 20:5; Ps 92:9; Ps 103:9) 

New International Version

2 The Lord is a jealous and avenging God; the Lord takes vengeance and is filled with wrath. The Lord takes vengeance on his foes and vents his wrath against his enemies. 

New International Reader’s Version

2 The LORD is a jealous God who punishes people. He pays them back for the evil things they do. He directs his anger against them. The LORD punishes his enemies. He holds his anger back until the right time to use it. 

King James Version

2 God is jealous, and the LORD revengeth; the LORD revengeth, and is furious; the LORD will take vengeance on his adversaries, and he reserveth wrath for his enemies.
