3 For Herod had seized John and bound him and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,[1] (Mt 11:2; Lu 3:19; Joh 3:24)

3 Now Herod had arrested John and bound him and put him in prison because of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

3 Herod had arrested John. He had tied him up and put him in prison because of Herodias. She was the wife of Herod’s brother Philip. 

King James Version

3 For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for Herodias' sake, his brother Philip's wife.
