9 Herod said, “John I beheaded, but who is this about whom I hear such things?” And he sought to see him. (Lu 23:8) 

New International Version

9 But Herod said, ‘I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?’ And he tried to see him. 

New International Reader’s Version

9 But Herod said, ‘I had John’s head cut off. So who is it that I hear such things about?’ And he tried to see Jesus.
