3 And he went into all the region around the Jordan, proclaiming a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. (Mt 26:28; Lu 1:77; Ac 2:38) 

New International Version

3 He went into all the country around the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. 

New International Reader’s Version

3 He went into all the countryside around the River Jordan. There he preached that people should be baptised and turn away from their sins. Then God would forgive them. 

King James Version

3 And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins;
