Judges 14:4

English Standard Version

4 His father and mother did not know that it was from the Lord, for he was seeking an opportunity against the Philistines. At that time the Philistines ruled over Israel. (Jos 11:20; Jud 13:1; Jud 15:11) 

New International Version

4 (His parents did not know that this was from the Lord, who was seeking an occasion to confront the Philistines; for at that time they were ruling over Israel.) 

New International Reader’s Version

4 Samson’s parents didn’t know that the LORD wanted things to happen this way. He was working out his plans against the Philistines. That’s because the Philistines were ruling over Israel at that time. 

King James Version

4 But his father and his mother knew not that it was of the LORD, that he sought an occasion against the Philistines: for at that time the Philistines had dominion over Israel.
