Jeremiah 51:39

English Standard Version

39 While they are inflamed I will prepare them a feast and make them drunk, that they may become merry, then sleep a perpetual sleep and not wake, declares the Lord. (Isa 21:5; Jer 51:57) 

New International Version

39 But while they are aroused, I will set out a feast for them and make them drunk, so that they shout with laughter – then sleep for ever and not awake,’ declares the Lord. 

New International Reader’s Version

39 They are stirred up. So I will set a feast in front of them. I will make them drunk. And they will shout and laugh. But then they will lie down and die. They will never wake up,’ announces the LORD. 

King James Version

39 In their heat I will make their feasts, and I will make them drunken, that they may rejoice, and sleep a perpetual sleep, and not wake, saith the LORD.
