17 By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac, and he who had received the promises was in the act of offering up his only son, (Ge 22:1; Jas 2:21) 

New International Version

17 By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had embraced the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, 

New International Reader’s Version

17 Abraham had faith. So when God tested him, Abraham offered Isaac as a sacrifice. Abraham had held on tightly to the promises. But he was about to offer his one and only son. 

King James Version

17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
