Esther 6:4

English Standard Version

4 And the king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the king’s palace to speak to the king about having Mordecai hanged on the gallows[1] that he had prepared for him. (Es 4:11; Es 5:1; Es 5:14)

New International Version

4 The king said, ‘Who is in the court?’ Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about impaling Mordecai on the pole he had set up for him.

New International Reader’s Version

4 The king asked, ‘Who is in the courtyard?’ Haman had just entered the outer courtyard of the palace. He had come to speak to the king about putting Mordecai to death. He wanted to talk about putting Mordecai’s body on the pole he had prepared for him.

King James Version

4 And the king said, Who is in the court? Now Haman was come into the outward court of the king' house, to speak unto the king to hang Mordecai on the gallows that he had prepared for him.
