Daniel 9:1

English Standard Version

1 In the first year of Darius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a Mede, who was made king over the realm of the Chaldeans— (Da 5:30; Da 5:31; Da 8:20; Da 11:1) 

New International Version

1 In the first year of Darius son of Xerxes[1] (a Mede by descent), who was made ruler over the Babylonian[2] kingdom –

1 It was the first year that Darius was king of Babylon. He was from Media and was the son of Xerxes.
