Amos 1:5

5 I will break the gate-bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of Aven,[1] and him who holds the scepter from Beth-eden; and the people of Syria shall go into exile to Kir,” says the Lord. (2Ki 16:9; 2Ki 19:12; Jer 51:30; Ho 4:15; Am 1:3; Am 9:7)

5 I will break down the gate of Damascus; I will destroy the king who is in[1] the Valley of Aven[2] and the one who holds the sceptre in Beth Eden. The people of Aram will go into exile to Kir,’ says the Lord. 

New International Reader’s Version

5 I will break down the city gate of Damascus. I will kill the king who lives in the Valley of Aven, that evil place. He holds the ruler’s sceptre in Beth Eden. The people of Aram will be taken away to Kir as prisoners,’ says the LORD. 

King James Version

5 I will break also the bar of Damascus, and cut off the inhabitant from the plain of Aven, and him that holdeth the sceptre from the house of Eden: and the people of Syria shall go into captivity unto Kir, saith the LORD.
