Acts 28:18

English Standard Version

18 When they had examined me, they wished to set me at liberty, because there was no reason for the death penalty in my case. (Ac 23:29; Ac 26:31) 

New International Version

18 They examined me and wanted to release me, because I was not guilty of any crime deserving death. 

New International Reader’s Version

18 They questioned me. And they wanted to let me go. They saw I wasn’t guilty of any crime worthy of death. 

King James Version

18 Who, when they had examined me, would have let me go, because there was no cause of death in me.
