35 And when he came to the steps, he was actually carried by the soldiers because of the violence of the crowd, 

New International Version

35 When Paul reached the steps, the violence of the mob was so great he had to be carried by the soldiers. 

New International Reader’s Version

35 Paul reached the steps. But then the mob became so wild that he had to be carried by the soldiers. 

King James Version

35 And when he came upon the stairs, so it was, that he was borne of the soldiers for the violence of the people.
