1 وَمَتَى أَدْخَلَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا، وَطَرَدَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ سَبْعَ أُمَمٍ، أَكْثَرَ وَأَعْظَمَ مِنْكُمْ، وَهُمُ الْحِثِّيُّونَ وَالْجِرْجَاشِيُّونَ وَالأَمُورِيُّونَ وَالْكَنْعَانِيُّونَ وَالْفِرِزِّيُّونَ وَالْحِوِّيُّونَ وَالْيَبُوسِيُّونَ. 

2 وَأَسْلَمَهُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَهَزَمْتُمُوهُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ تُحَرِّمُونَهُمْ. لَا تَقْطَعُوا لَهُمْ عَهْداً، وَلا تَرْفُقُوا بِهِمْ، 

3 وَلا تُصَاهِرُوهُمْ. فَلا تُزَوِّجُوا بَنَاتِكُمْ مِنْ أَبْنَائِهِمْ، وَلا أَبْنَاءَكُمْ مِنْ بَنَاتِهِمْ، 

4 إِذْ يُغْوُونَ أَبْنَاءَكُمْ عَنْ عِبَادَتِي لِيَعْبُدُوا آلِهَةً أُخْرَى، فَيَحْتَدِمُ غَضَبُ الرَّبِّ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُهْلِكُكُمْ سَرِيعاً. 

5 وَلَكِنْ هَذَا مَا تَفْعَلُونَهُ بِهِمْ: اهْدِمُوا مَذَابِحَهُمْ وَحَطِّمُوا أَصْنَامَهُمْ وَقَطِّعُوا سَوَارِيَهُمْ وَأَحْرِقُوا تَمَاثِيلَهُمْ. 

6 لأَنَّكُمْ شَعْبٌ مُقَدَّسٌ لِلرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ. فَإِيَّاكُمْ قَدِ اخْتَارَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَمِيعِ شُعُوبِ الأَرْضِ لِتَكُونُوا شَعْبَهُ الْخَاصَّ. 

7 وَلَمْ يُفَضِّلْكُمُ الرَّبُّ وَيَتَخَيَّرْكُمْ لأَنَّكُمْ أَكْثَرُ عَدَداً مِنْ سَائِرِ الشُّعُوبِ، فَأَنْتُمْ أَقَلُّ الأُمَمِ عَدَداً. 

8 بَلْ مِنْ مَحَبَّتِهِ، وَحِفَاظاً عَلَى الْقَسَمِ الَّذِي أَقْسَمَ بِهِ لِآبَائِكُمْ، أَخْرَجَكُمْ بِقُوَّةٍ فَائِقَةٍ، وَفَدَاكُمْ مِنْ نِيرِ عُبُودِيَّةِ فِرْعَوْنَ مَلِكِ مِصْرَ. 

9 فَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ هُوَ اللهُ، الإِلَهُ الأَمِينُ الْوَفِيُّ بِالْعَهْدِ وَالإِحْسَانِ لِمُحِبِّيهِ وَحَافِظِي وَصَايَاهُ إِلَى أَلْفِ جِيلٍ. 

10 وَهُوَ يُجَازِي مُبْغِضِيهِ عَلَناً، فَيَسْتَأْصِلُهُمْ وَلا يَتَمَهَّلُ، بَلْ يُسْرِعُ فِي مُعَاقَبَةِ مَنْ يُبْغِضُهُ. 

11 فَأَطِيعُوا الْوَصَايَا وَالْفَرَائِضَ وَالأَحْكَامَ الَّتِي أُوْصِيكُمْ بِها الْيَوْمَ لِتُمَارِسُوهَا. 

12 فَإِنِ اسْتَمَعْتُمْ إِلَى هَذِهِ الأَحْكَامِ وَأَطَعْتُمُوهَا وَعَمِلْتُمْ بِها، فَإِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يُحَافِظُ لَكُمْ عَلَى الْعَهْدِ وَالإِحْسَانِ كَمَا حَلَفَ لِآبَائِكُمْ. 

13 وَيُحِبُّكُمْ وَيُبَارِكُكُمْ وَيُكَثِّرُكُمْ، وَيُبَارِكُ ثَمَرَةَ أَحْشَائِكُمْ وَغَلَّةَ أَرْضِكُمْ مِنْ قَمْحٍ وَخَمْرٍ وَزَيْتٍ، وَيَزِيدُ مِنْ إِنْتَاجِ بَقَرِكُمْ وَنِعَاجِكُمْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ لِآبَائِكُمْ أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَكُمْ. 

14 وَتَكُونُونَ مُبَارَكِينَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الشُّعُوبِ، فَلا يُوْجَدُ عَقِيمٌ وَلا عَاقِرٌ فِيكُمْ وَلا فِي بَهَائِمِكُمْ. 

15 وَيَقِيكُمُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ كُلِّ عِلَّةٍ، وَكُلِّ أَمْرَاضِ مِصْرَ الْخَبِيثَةِ الَّتِي عَايَنْتُمُوهَا، وَلا يُصِيبُكُمْ بِها، بَلْ يَجْعَلُهَا عَلَى مُبْغِضِيكُمْ. 

16 وَتَسْتَأْصِلُونَ جَمِيعَ الشُّعُوبِ الَّذِينَ يُسْلِمُهُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْكُمْ، فَلا تُشْفِقُوا عَلَيْهِمْ وَلا تَعْبُدُوا آلِهَتَهُمْ لأَنَّ ذَلِكَ شَرَكٌ لَكُمْ. 

17 وَإِنْ تَسَاءَلْتُمْ فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ: إِنَّ هَذِهِ الشُّعُوبَ أَكْثَرُ مِنَّا عَدَداً، فَكَيْفَ نَقْدِرُ أَنْ نَطْرُدَهُمْ؟ 

18 لَا تَخَافُوا مِنْهُمْ بَلِ اذْكُرُوا مَا صَنَعَهُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ بِفِرْعَوْنَ وَسَائِرِ الْمِصْرِيِّينَ. 

19 اذْكُرُوا الْوَيْلاتِ الْعَظِيمَةَ الَّتِي شَهِدَتْهَا أَعْيُنُكُمْ وَالْمُعْجِزَاتِ وَالْعَجَائِبَ وَالْقُوَّةَ الشَّدِيدَةَ وَالْقُدْرَةَ الْفَائِقَةَ الَّتِي أَخْرَجَكُمْ بِها الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ، فَهَكَذَا يَفْعَلُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ بِجَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ الَّتِي تَخْشَوْنَهَا. 

20 وَيُرْسِلُ عَلَيْهِمِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ الزَّنَابِيرَ وَيُبِيدُ الْبَاقِينَ الْمُحْتَجِبِينَ مِنْ وَجْهِكُمْ. 

21 لَا تَرْهَبُوهُمْ، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمُ الْحَالَّ بَيْنَكُمْ إِلَهٌ عَظِيمٌ وَمَرْهُوبٌ. 

22 غَيْرَ أَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ سَيَطْرُدُ تِلْكَ الأُمَمَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ تَدْرِيجِيًّا، لِئَلّا تَتَكَاثَرَ عَلَيْكُمْ وُحُوشُ الْبَرِّيَّةِ إِنْ أَسْرَعْتُمْ بِالْقَضَاءِ عَلَيْهِمْ دَفْعَةً وَاحِدَةً. 

23 إِنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ يُسْلِمُهُمْ إِلَيْكُمْ مُوْقِعاً بِهِمِ الاضْطِرَابَ الْعَظِيمَ حَتَّى يَنْقَرِضُوا، 

24 وَيَجْعَلُ مُلُوكَهُمْ يَقَعُونَ فِي أَسْرِكُمْ فَتَمْحُونَ اسْمَهُمْ مِنَ الأَرْضِ. وَلَنْ يَقْدِرَ أَحَدٌ أَنْ يُجَابِهَكُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ تُفْنُونَهُمْ. 

25 أَحْرِقُوا تَمَاثِيلَ آلِهَتِهِمْ وَلا تَشْتَهُوا مَا عَلَيْهَا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ وَذَهَبٍ فَتَغْنَمُوهَا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ، لِئَلّا تَقْتَنِصَكُمْ، لأَنَّهَا رِجْسٌ عِنْدَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ. 

26 لَا تُدْخِلُوا شَيْئاً رِجْساً إِلَى بُيُوتِكُمْ لِئَلّا تُصْبِحُوا أَهْلاً لِلدَّمَارِ مِثْلَهُ، بَلْ عَلَيْكُمْ أَنْ تَسْتَقْبِحُوهُ وَتَمْقُتُوهُ، لأَنَّ مَآلَهُ الدَّمَارُ.

Ordine di distruggere i Cananei e i loro idoli

1 «Quando il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti avrà introdotto nel paese che vai a prendere in possesso, e avrai scacciato molti popoli: gli Ittiti, i Ghirgasei, gli Amorei, i Cananei, i Ferezei, gli Ivvei e i Gebusei, sette popoli più grandi e più potenti di te; 

2 quando il Signore, il tuo Dio, li avrà dati in tuo potere e tu li avrai sconfitti, tu li voterai allo sterminio; non farai alleanza con loro e non farai loro grazia. 

3 Non t’imparenterai con loro, non darai le tue figlie ai loro figli e non prenderai le loro figlie per i tuoi figli, 

4 perché distoglierebbero da me i tuoi figli che servirebbero dèi stranieri e l’ira del Signore si accenderebbe contro di voi. Egli ben presto vi distruggerebbe. 

5 Invece farete loro così: demolirete i loro altari, spezzerete le loro statue, abbatterete i loro idoli di Astarte e darete alle fiamme le loro immagini scolpite. 

6 Infatti tu sei un popolo consacrato al Signore tuo Dio. Il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ha scelto per essere il suo tesoro particolare fra tutti i popoli che sono sulla faccia della terra. 

7 Il Signore si è affezionato a voi e vi ha scelti, non perché foste più numerosi di tutti gli altri popoli, anzi siete meno numerosi di ogni altro popolo, 

8 ma perché il Signore vi ama: il Signore vi ha fatti uscire con mano potente e vi ha liberati dalla casa di schiavitù, dalla mano del faraone, re d’Egitto, perché ha voluto mantenere il giuramento fatto ai vostri padri. 

9 Riconosci dunque che il Signore, il tuo Dio, è Dio: il Dio fedele, che mantiene il suo patto e la sua bontà fino alla millesima generazione verso quelli che lo amano e osservano i suoi comandamenti, 

10 ma a quelli che lo odiano rende immediatamente ciò che si meritano, e li distrugge; non rinvia, ma rende immediatamente a chi lo odia ciò che si merita. 

11 Osserva dunque i comandamenti, le leggi e le prescrizioni che oggi ti do, mettendoli in pratica. 

12 Se darete ascolto a queste prescrizioni, se le osserverete e le metterete in pratica, il Signore, il vostro Dio, manterrà con voi il patto e la bontà che promise con giuramento ai vostri padri. 

13 Egli ti amerà e ti benedirà, ti moltiplicherà, benedirà il frutto del tuo seno e il frutto della tua terra: il tuo frumento, il tuo mosto e il tuo olio, i parti delle tue vacche e delle tue pecore, nel paese che giurò ai tuoi padri di darti. 

14 Tu sarai benedetto più di tutti i popoli e non ci sarà in mezzo a te né uomo né donna sterile, né animale sterile fra il tuo bestiame. 

15 Il Signore allontanerà da te ogni malattia e non manderà su di te nessuna di quelle funeste malattie d’Egitto, che ben conoscesti, ma le infliggerà a coloro che ti odiano. 

16 Sterminerai dunque tutti i popoli che il Signore, il tuo Dio, sta per dare in tuo potere; il tuo occhio non si impietosisca, e non servire i loro dèi, perché ciò sarebbe per te un’insidia. 

17 Forse dirai in cuor tuo: “Queste nazioni sono più numerose di me; come potrò scacciarle?” 

18 Non le temere! Ricòrdati di quello che il Signore, il tuo Dio, fece al faraone e a tutti gli Egiziani; 

19 ricòrdati delle grandi prove che vedesti con i tuoi occhi, dei miracoli e dei prodigi, della mano potente e del braccio steso con i quali il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti fece uscire dall’Egitto; così farà il Signore, il tuo Dio, a tutti i popoli dei quali hai timore. 

20 Il Signore, il tuo Dio, manderà pure contro di loro i calabroni, finché siano periti quelli che saranno rimasti e quelli che si saranno nascosti per paura di te. 

21 Non ti sgomentare per causa loro, perché il Signore, il tuo Dio, Dio grande e terribile, è in mezzo a te. 

22 Il Signore, il tuo Dio, scaccerà a poco a poco queste nazioni davanti a te. Tu non potrai distruggerle d’un colpo solo, perché le bestie della campagna si moltiplicherebbero a tuo danno. 

23 Il Signore tuo Dio, invece, le darà in tuo potere e le metterà in fuga con grande scompiglio finché siano distrutte. 

24 Ti darà nelle mani i loro re, e tu farai scomparire i loro nomi di sotto il cielo; nessuno potrà resisterti, finché tu le abbia distrutte. 

25 Darai alle fiamme le immagini scolpite dei loro dèi; non desidererai e non prenderai per te argento né oro che è su di esse, affinché tu non rimanga preso al laccio; perché sono abominevoli per il Signore tuo Dio. 

26 Non introdurrai cosa abominevole in casa tua, perché saresti votato allo sterminio come quella cosa; dovrai detestarla e aborrirla, perché è cosa votata allo sterminio.

1 “When the LORD your God brings you into the land that you are entering to take possession of it, and clears away many nations before you, the Hittites, the Girgashites, the Amorites, the Canaanites, the Perizzites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and mightier than you, (خر 23:23; تث 4:38; تث 9:1; تث 11:23; تث 31:3; مز 44:2; مز 44:3) 

2 and when the LORD your God gives them over to you, and you defeat them, then you must devote them to complete destruction. You shall make no covenant with them and show no mercy to them. 3 You shall not intermarry with them, giving your daughters to their sons or taking their daughters for your sons, (خر 34:16; يش 23:12; يش 23:13; 1مل 11:2; عز 9:2) 

4 for they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods. Then the anger of the LORD would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly. (تث 4:26; تث 6:15; تث 28:20) 

5 But thus shall you deal with them: you shall break down their altars and dash in pieces their pillars and chop down their Asherim and burn their carved images with fire. (خر 34:13; تث 7:25) 

6 “For you are a people holy to the LORD your God. The LORD your God has chosen you to be a people for his treasured possession, out of all the peoples who are on the face of the earth. (خر 19:5; خر 19:6; خر 22:31; تث 14:2; تث 26:19; تث 28:9; إر 2:3; عا 3:2; 1بط 2:9) 

7 It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples, 

8 but it is because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 11 You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment and the statutes and the rules that I command you today. (تث 10:13) 

12 “And because you listen to these rules and keep and do them, the LORD your God will keep with you the covenant and the steadfast love that he swore to your fathers. (لا 26:3; تث 28:1; مز 105:8; لو 1:55; لو 1:72) 

13 He will love you, bless you, and multiply you. He will also bless the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground, your grain and your wine and your oil, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock, in the land that he swore to your fathers to give you. (تث 30:9; يو 14:21) 

14 You shall be blessed above all peoples. There shall not be male or female barren among you or among your livestock. (خر 23:26) 

15 And the LORD will take away from you all sickness, and none of the evil diseases of Egypt, which you knew, will he inflict on you, but he will lay them on all who hate you. (خر 9:14; خر 15:26; تث 28:27; تث 28:60) 

16 And you shall consume all the peoples that the LORD your God will give over to you. Your eye shall not pity them, neither shall you serve their gods, for that would be a snare to you. (خر 23:33; تث 7:2; تث 7:25; تث 12:30; تث 13:8; تث 19:13; تث 19:21; تث 25:12; قض 8:27) 

17 “If you say in your heart, ‘These nations are greater than I. How can I dispossess them?’ 

18 you shall not be afraid of them but you shall remember what the LORD your God did to Pharaoh and to all Egypt, (تث 1:29; تث 31:6; مز 77:11; مز 105:5) 

19 the great trials that your eyes saw, the signs, the wonders, the mighty hand, and the outstretched arm, by which the LORD your God brought you out. So will the LORD your God do to all the peoples of whom you are afraid. (تث 6:22; تث 11:3) 

20 Moreover, the LORD your God will send hornets among them, until those who are left and hide themselves from you are destroyed. (خر 23:28; يش 24:12) 

21 You shall not be in dread of them, for the LORD your God is in your midst, a great and awesome God. (عد 11:20; عد 14:14; تث 6:15; تث 10:17; يش 3:10; نح 1:5; نح 4:14; نح 9:32) 

22 The LORD your God will clear away these nations before you little by little. You may not make an end of them at once, lest the wild beasts grow too numerous for you. (خر 23:29; خر 23:30) 

23 But the LORD your God will give them over to you and throw them into great confusion, until they are destroyed. (تث 7:2) 

24 And he will give their kings into your hand, and you shall make their name perish from under heaven. No one shall be able to stand against you until you have destroyed them. (تث 9:14; تث 11:25; يش 1:5; يش 10:8; يش 10:24; يش 10:42; يش 11:12; يش 12:1; يش 23:9) 

25 The carved images of their gods you shall burn with fire. You shall not covet the silver or the gold that is on them or take it for yourselves, lest you be ensnared by it, for it is an abomination to the LORD your God. (خر 32:20; تث 7:5; تث 12:3; تث 16:1; يش 7:1; يش 7:21; 1أخ 14:12) 

26 And you shall not bring an abominable thing into your house and become devoted to destruction like it. You shall utterly detest and abhor it, for it is devoted to destruction. (لا 27:28; تث 13:17; يش 6:17; يش 6:18; يش 7:1; مي 4:13)
