1 وَهَذِهِ هِيَ الْوَصَايَا وَالْفَرَائِضُ وَالأَحْكَامُ الَّتِي أَمَرَنِي الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ أَنْ أُلَقِّنَكُمْ إِيَّاهَا، لِتَعْمَلُوا بِها فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا. 2 وَبِذَلِكَ تَتَّقِي الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكَ وَتُمَارِسُ جَمِيعَ فَرَائِضِهِ وَوَصَايَاهُ الَّتِي أَنَا أُوصِيكَ بِها أَنْتَ وَابْنُكَ وَحَفِيدُكَ كُلَّ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِكَ فَتَطُولُ أَيَّامُكَ. 3 فَأَنْصِتُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَاحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِها فَتَزْدَهِرُوا وَتَتَكَاثَرُوا جِدّاً فِي أَرْضٍ تَفِيضُ لَبَناً وَعَسَلاً، كَمَا وَعَدَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُ آبَائِكُمْ. 4 اسْمَعُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ: الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا رَبٌّ وَاحِدٌ، 5 فَأَحِبُّوا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ مِنْ كُلِّ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَنُفُوسِكُمْ وَقوَّتِكُمْ. 6 وَضَعُوا هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ الَّتِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِها عَلَى قُلُوبِكُمْ، 7 وَقُصُّوهَا عَلَى أَوْلادِكُمْ، وَتَحَدَّثُوا بِها حِينَ تَجْلِسُونَ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ، وَحِينَ تَسِيرُونَ فِي الطَّرِيقِ، وَحِينَ تَنَامُونَ، وَحِينَ تَنْهَضُونَ. 8 ارْبُطُوهَا عَلامَةً عَلَى أَيْدِيكُمْ، وَاجْعَلُوهَا عَصَائِبَ عَلَى جِبَاهِكُمْ. 9 اكْتُبُوهَا عَلَى قَوَائِمِ أَبْوَابِ بُيُوتِكُمْ وَبَوَّابَاتِ مُدُنِكُمْ. 10 وَمَتَى أَدْخَلَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ إِلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ لِآبَائِكُمْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَإِسْحَاقَ وَيَعْقُوبَ أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَكُمْ، حَيْثُ تَنْتَشِرُ مُدُنٌ عَظِيمَةٌ لَمْ تَبْنُوهَا، 11 وَبُيُوتٌ عَامِرَةٌ بِخَيْرَاتٍ لَمْ تَخْزِنُوهَا، وَآبَارٌ مَحْفُورَةٌ لَمْ تَحْفُرُوهَا، وَأَشْجَارُ كُرُومٍ وَزَيْتُونٍ لَمْ تَغْرِسُوهَا، فَأَكَلْتُمْ وَشَبِعْتُمْ، 12 فَإِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَنْسَوْا الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمُ الَّذِي أَطْلَقَكُمْ مِنْ عُبُودِيَّةِ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ. 13 فَالرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ تَتَّقُونَ، وَإِيَّاهُ تَعْبُدُونَ، وَبِاسْمِهِ تَحْلِفُونَ. 14 لَا تَسِيرُوا خَلْفَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى مِنْ آلِهَةِ الأُمَمِ الْمُحِيطَةِ بِكُمْ، 15 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ إِلَهٌ غَيُورٌ حَالٌّ فِي وَسَطِكُمْ، فَيَحْتَدِمَ غَضَبُهُ عَلَيْكُمْ وَيُبِيدَكُمْ عَنْ وَجْهِ الأَرْضِ. 16 لَا تَمْتَحِنُوا صَبْرَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ، كَمَا امْتَحَنْتُمُوهُ فِي مَسَّةَ. 17 بَلِ احْفَظُوا وَصَايَا الرَّبِّ وَشُرُوطَهُ وَأَحْكَامَهُ الَّتِي أَمَرَكُمْ بِها، 18 وَاصْنَعُوا مَا هُوَ صَالِحٌ وَمَرْضِيٌّ لَدَى الرَّبِّ لِتَزْدَهِرُوا وَتَدْخُلُوا وَتَرِثُوا الأَرْضَ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ الرَّبُّ لِآبَائِكُمْ، 19 أَنْ يَطْرُدَ جَمِيعَ أَعْدَائِكُمْ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ. 20 وَإذَا سَأَلَكُمْ أَبْنَاؤُكُمْ فِي مُسْتَقْبَلِ الأَيَّامِ: مَا هِيَ الشُّرُوطُ وَالْفَرَائِضُ وَالأَحْكَامُ الَّتِي أَمَرَكُمْ بِها الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا؟ 21 تُجِيبُونَهُمْ: لَقَدْ كُنَّا عَبِيداً لِفِرْعَوْنَ فِي مِصْرَ، فَأَخْرَجَنَا الرَّبُّ بِقُوَّةٍ فَائِقَةٍ، 22 وَأَجْرَى الرَّبُّ آيَاتٍ وَعَجَائِبَ عَظِيمَةً وَمُهْلِكَةً بِمِصْرَ عَلَى فِرْعَوْنَ وَجَمِيعِ أَهْلِ بَيْتِهِ عَلَى مَرْأَى مِنَّا. 23 ثُمَّ أَخْرَجَنَا مِنْ هُنَاكَ لِيَأْتِيَ بِنَا وَيُوَرِّثَنَا الأَرْضَ الَّتِي أَقْسَمَ لِآبَائِنَا أَنْ يَهَبَهَا لَنَا. 24 فَأَمَرَنَا الرَّبُّ أَنْ نُمَارِسَ جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْفَرَائِضِ وَنَتَّقِيَهُ لِنَزْدَهِرَ دَائِماً وَنَظَلَّ أَحْيَاءَ كَمَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ. 25 وَإذَا أَطَعْنَا جَمِيعَ هَذِهِ الْوَصَايَا بِحِرْصٍ لِنُمَارِسَهَا أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا كَمَا أَمَرَنَا، يَكُونُ لَنَا بِرٌّ.

Principi basilari della legge

1 «Questi sono i comandamenti, le leggi e le prescrizioni che il Signore, il vostro Dio, ha ordinato di insegnarvi, perché li mettiate in pratica nel paese nel quale vi preparate a entrare per prenderne possesso, 2 così che tu tema il tuo Dio, il Signore, osservando, tutti i giorni della tua vita, tu, tuo figlio e il figlio di tuo figlio, tutte le sue leggi e tutti i suoi comandamenti che io ti do, affinché i tuoi giorni siano prolungati. 3 Ascoltali dunque, Israele, e abbi cura di metterli in pratica, affinché venga a te del bene e vi moltiplichiate grandemente nel paese dove scorrono il latte e il miele, come il Signore, il Dio dei tuoi padri, ti ha detto. 4 Ascolta, Israele: il Signore, il nostro Dio, è l’unico Signore. 5 Tu amerai dunque il Signore, il tuo Dio, con tutto il cuore, con tutta l’anima tua e con tutte le tue forze. 6 Questi comandamenti, che oggi ti do, ti staranno nel cuore; 7 li inculcherai ai tuoi figli, ne parlerai quando te ne starai seduto in casa tua, quando sarai per via, quando ti coricherai e quando ti alzerai. 8 Te li legherai alla mano come un segno, te li metterai sulla fronte in mezzo agli occhi 9 e li scriverai sugli stipiti della tua casa e sulle porte della tua città. 10 Quando il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti avrà fatto entrare nel paese che giurò ai tuoi padri, Abraamo, Isacco e Giacobbe, di darti; quando ti avrà condotto alle grandi e belle città che non hai edificate, 11 alle case piene di ogni bene che non hai accumulato, alle cisterne che non hai scavate, alle vigne e agli uliveti che non hai piantati; quando mangerai e sarai sazio, 12 guàrdati dal dimenticare il Signore che ti ha fatto uscire dal paese d’Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù. 13 Temerai il Signore, il tuo Dio, lo servirai e giurerai nel suo nome. 14 Non seguirete altri dèi, presi fra gli dèi degli altri popoli intorno a voi, 15 perché il tuo Dio, il Signore, che sta in mezzo a te, è un Dio geloso; l’ira del Signore tuo Dio si accenderebbe contro di te e ti farebbe scomparire dalla terra. 16 Non tenterete il Signore, il vostro Dio, come lo tentaste a Massa. 17 Osserverete diligentemente i comandamenti del Signore, il vostro Dio, le sue istruzioni e le sue leggi che vi ha date. 18 Farai ciò che è giusto e buono agli occhi del Signore, affinché venga a te del bene ed entri in possesso del buon paese che il Signore giurò ai tuoi padri di darti, 19 dopo che egli avrà scacciato tutti i tuoi nemici davanti a te, come il Signore ha promesso. 20 Quando in avvenire tuo figlio ti domanderà: “Che significano queste istruzioni, queste leggi e queste prescrizioni che il Signore, il nostro Dio, vi ha date?”, 21 tu risponderai a tuo figlio: “Eravamo schiavi del faraone in Egitto e il Signore ci fece uscire dall’Egitto con mano potente. 22 Il Signore operò sotto i nostri occhi miracoli e prodigi grandi e disastrosi contro l’Egitto, contro il faraone e contro tutta la sua casa, 23 e ci fece uscire di là per condurci nel paese che aveva giurato ai nostri padri di darci. 24 Il Signore ci ordinò di mettere in pratica tutte queste leggi e di temere il Signore, il nostro Dio, affinché venisse a noi del bene sempre ed egli ci conservasse in vita, come ha fatto finora. 25 Questa sarà la nostra giustizia: l’aver cura di mettere in pratica tutti questi comandamenti davanti al Signore nostro Dio, come egli ci ha ordinato”.

The Greatest Commandment

1 “Now this is the commandment—the statutes and the rules^[1]—that the LORD your God commanded me to teach you, that you may do them in the land to which you are going over, to possess it, (تث 4:1; تث 5:31; تث 12:1) 2 that you may fear the LORD your God, you and your son and your son’s son, by keeping all his statutes and his commandments, which I command you, all the days of your life, and that your days may be long.
