1 وَاسْتَدْعَى مُوسَى جَمِيعَ الإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «اسْمَعُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ الشَّرَائِعَ وَالأَحْكَامَ الَّتِي أَتْلُوهَا عَلَيْكُمْ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ، وَتَعَلَّمُوهَا وَاحْرِصُوا عَلَى مُمَارَسَتِهَا. 2 قَطَعَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا مَعَنَا عَهْداً فِي جَبَلِ حُورِيبَ. 3 لَيْسَ مَعَ آبَائِنَا قَطَعَ هَذَا الْعَهْدَ، إِنَّمَا مَعَنَا نَحْنُ الَّذِينَ هُنَا الْيَوْمَ جَمِيعاً أَحْيَاءُ، 4 إِذْ تَكَلَّمَ الرَّبُّ مَعَنَا فِي الْجَبَلِ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ وَجْهاً لِوَجْهٍ. 5 وَكُنْتُ أَنَا وَاقِفاً بَيْنَ الرَّبِّ وَبَيْنَكُمْ، لأَنَّكُمْ خِفْتُمْ مِنَ النَّارَ، فَلَمْ تَصْعَدُوا إِلَى الْجَبَلِ. فَقَالَ الرَّبُّ: 6 أَنَا هُوَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ الَّذِي حَرَّرَكَ مِنْ سِجْنِ الْعُبُودِيَّةِ فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ. 7 لَا يَكُنْ لَكَ آلِهَةٌ أُخْرَى أَمَامِي. 8 لَا تَنْحَتْ لَكَ تِمْثَالاً، وَلا صُورَةً مَا مِمَّا فِي السَّمَاءِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَمَا فِي الْمَاءِ تَحْتَ الأَرْضِ. 9 لَا تَسْجُدْ لَهَا وَلا تَعْبُدْهَا، لأَنِّي أَنَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ إِلَهٌ غَيُورٌ، أَفْتَقِدُ مَعَاصِيَ الآبَاءِ فِي الأَبْنَاءِ حَتَّى الْجِيلِ الثَّالِثِ وَالرَّابِعِ مِنْ مُبْغِضِيَّ. 10 وَأُحْسِنُ إِلَى أُلُوفٍ مِنْ مُحِبِّيَّ وَطَائِعِي وَصَايَايَ. 11 لَا تَنْطِقْ بِاسْمِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكَ بَاطِلاً، لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ لَا يُبْرِئُ مَنْ يَنْطِقُ بِاسْمِهِ بَاطِلاً. 12 احْفَظْ يَوْمَ السَّبْتِ مُقَدَّساً كَمَا أَوْصَاكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ. 13 سِتَّةَ أَيَّامٍ تَشْتَغِلُ وَتَقُومُ بِجَمِيعِ أَعْمَالِكَ، 14 وَأَمَّا الْيَوْمُ السَّابِعُ فَيَكُونُ يَوْمَ رَاحَةٍ لِلرَّبِّ إِلَهِكَ، لَا تَقُومُ فِيهِ بِأَيِّ عَمَلٍ أَنْتَ وَابْنُكَ وَابْنَتُكَ وَعَبْدُكَ وَأَمَتُكَ وَثَوْرُكَ وَحِمَارُكَ وَكُلُّ بَهَائِمِكَ، وَالأَجْنَبِيُّ الْمُقِيمُ دَاخِلَ أَبْوَابِكَ، لِيَسْتَرِيحَ عَبْدُكَ وَأَمَتُكَ مِثْلَكَ. 15 وَتَذَكَّرْ أَنَّكَ كُنْتَ عَبْداً فِي دِيَارِ مِصْرَ، فَأَطْلَقَكَ الرَّبُّ مِنْ هُنَاكَ بِقُدْرَةٍ فَائِقَةٍ وَقُوَّةٍ شَدِيدَةٍ، لِهَذَا أَوْصَاكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ أَنْ تَرْتَاحَ فِي يَوْمِ السَّبْتِ. 16 أَكْرِمْ أَبَاكَ وَأُمَّكَ كَمَا أَمَرَكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ، فَتَطُولَ أَيَّامُكَ وَيَكُونَ لَكَ خَيْرٌ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي يُوَرِّثُهَا لَكَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكَ. 17 لَا تَقْتُلْ. 18 لَا تَزْنِ. 19 لَا تَسْرِقْ. 20 لَا تَشْهَدْ عَلَى جَارِكَ شَهَادَةَ زُورٍ. 21 لَا تَشْتَهِ امْرَأَةَ غَيْرِكَ وَلا بَيْتَهُ وَلا حَقْلَهُ وَلا عَبْدَهُ وَلا أَمَتَهُ وَلا ثَوْرَهُ وَلا حِمَارَهُ وَلا أَيَّاً مِمَّا لَهُ. 22 إِنَّ الرَّبَّ قَدْ أَعْلَنَ بِصَوْتٍ عَظِيمٍ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَاتِ لِكُلِّ جَمَاعَتِكُمْ فِي الْجَبَلِ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ وَالسَّحَابِ وَلَمْ يَزِدْ. وَنَقَشَهَا عَلَى لَوْحَيْنِ مِنْ حَجَرٍ وَأَعْطَانِي إِيَّاهَا. 23 فَلَمَّا سَمِعْتُمُ الصَّوْتَ مِنْ وَسَطِ الظَّلامِ، وَالْجَبَلُ يَشْتَعِلُ بِالنَّارِ، أَقْبَلَ عَلَيَّ جَمِيعُ قَادَةِ أَسْبَاطِكُمْ وَشُيُوخِكُمْ، 24 وَقَالُوا: قَدْ أَظْهَرَ الرَّبُّ لَنَا مَجْدَهُ وَعَظَمَتَهُ، وَسَمِعْنَا صَوْتَهُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ، وَرَأَيْنَا فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ أَنَّ اللهَ يُخَاطِبُ الإِنْسَانَ فَلا يَمُوتُ. 25 وَلَكِنِ الآنَ، إِنْ عُدْنَا نَسْمَعُ صَوْتَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا فَإِنَّ هَذِهِ النَّارَ الْعَظِيمَةَ تَلْتَهِمُنَا. فَلِمَاذَا نَمُوتُ؟ 26 إِذْ أَيُّ بَشَرِيٍّ سَمِعَ صَوْتَ اللهِ الْحَيِّ يَتَكَلَّمُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ مِثْلَنَا وَعَاشَ؟ 27 فَتَقَدَّمْ أَنْتَ وَاسْتَمِعْ كُلَّ مَا يَنْطِقُ بِهِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا، وَخَاطِبْنَا بِجَمِيعِ مَا يُكَلِّمُكَ بِهِ، فَنَسْتَمِعَ وَنُطِيعَ. 28 فَسَمِعَ الرَّبُّ حَدِيثَكُمْ حِينَ كَلَّمْتُمُونِي، وَقَالَ لِي: لَقَدْ سَمِعْتُ حَدِيثَ الشَّعْبِ الَّذِي كَلَّمُوكَ بِهِ. وَقَدْ أَحْسَنُوا فِي كُلِّ مَا قَالُوهُ. 29 يَا لَيْتَ قَلْبَهُمْ يَظَلُّ مُتَعَلِّقاً بِي حَتَّى يَتَّقُونِي وَيُطِيعُوا جَمِيعَ وَصَايَايَ دَائِماً، لِكَيْ يَتَمَتَّعُوا هُمْ وَأَوْلادُهُمْ بِالْخَيْرِ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 30 اذْهَبْ وَقُلْ لَهُمْ: ارْجِعُوا إِلَى خِيَامِكُمْ. 31 وَأَمَّا أَنْتَ فَامْثُلْ هُنَا أَمَامِي، فَأُكَلِّمَكَ بِجَمِيعِ الْوَصَايَا وَالشَّرَائِعِ وَالأَحْكَامِ لِتُعَلِّمَهَا لَهُمْ فَيَعْمَلُوا بِها فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي وَهَبْتُهَا لَهُمْ لِيَمْتَلِكُوهَا. 32 فَاحْرِصُوا عَلَى الْعَمَلِ بِكُلِّ مَا أَمَرَكُمْ بِهِ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ، لَا تَحِيدُوا يَمِيناً أَوْ شِمَالاً. 33 وَاسْلُكُوا فِي كُلِّ الطَّرِيقِ الَّتِي أَوْصَاكُمْ بِها الرَّبُّ لِتَحْيَوْا وَتَزْدَهِرُوا وَتَمْكُثُوا طَوِيلاً فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي تَرِثُونَهَا.

1 Mosè convocò tutto Israele e disse loro: «Ascolta, Israele, le leggi e le prescrizioni che oggi io proclamo davanti a voi; imparatele e mettetele diligentemente in pratica. 2 Il Signore, il nostro Dio, stabilì con noi un patto in Oreb. 3 Il Signore non stabilì questo patto con i nostri padri, ma con noi, che siamo qui oggi tutti quanti in vita. 4 Il Signore vi parlò faccia a faccia sul monte, dal fuoco. 5 Io stavo allora fra il Signore e voi per riferirvi la parola del Signore, perché voi avevate paura di quel fuoco e non siete saliti sul monte. Egli disse: 6 “Io sono il Signore, il tuo Dio, che ti ho fatto uscire dal paese d’Egitto, dalla casa di schiavitù. 7 Non avere altri dèi oltre a me. 8 Non farti scultura, immagine alcuna delle cose che sono lassù nel cielo o quaggiù sulla terra o nelle acque sotto la terra. 9 Non ti prostrare davanti a loro e non li servire, perché io, il Signore, il tuo Dio, sono un Dio geloso; punisco l’iniquità dei padri sui figli fino alla terza e alla quarta generazione di quelli che mi odiano, 10 e uso bontà fino alla millesima generazione, verso quelli che mi amano e osservano i miei comandamenti. 11 Non pronunciare il nome del Signore, Dio tuo, invano, poiché il Signore non riterrà innocente chi pronuncia il suo nome invano. 12 Osserva il giorno del riposo per santificarlo, come il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ha comandato. 13 Lavora sei giorni, e fa’ tutto il tuo lavoro, 14 ma il settimo è giorno di riposo, consacrato al Signore Dio tuo; non fare in esso nessun lavoro ordinario, né tu, né tuo figlio, né tua figlia, né il tuo servo, né la tua serva, né il tuo bue, né il tuo asino, né il tuo bestiame, né lo straniero che abita nella tua città, affinché il tuo servo e la tua serva si riposino come te. 15 Ricòrdati che sei stato schiavo nel paese d’Egitto e che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ha fatto uscire di là con mano potente e con braccio steso; perciò il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ordina di osservare il giorno del riposo. 16 Onora tuo padre e tua madre, come il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ha ordinato, affinché i tuoi giorni siano prolungati e affinché venga a te del bene sulla terra che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti dà. 17 Non uccidere. 18 Non commettere adulterio. 19 Non rubare. 20 Non attestare il falso contro il tuo prossimo. 21 Non concupire la moglie del tuo prossimo; non bramare la casa del tuo prossimo, né il suo campo, né il suo servo, né la sua serva, né il suo bue, né il suo asino, né cosa alcuna del tuo prossimo”.

22 «Queste parole pronunciò il Signore parlando a tutta la vostra assemblea, sul monte, dal fuoco, dalla nuvola, dall’oscurità, con voce forte, e non aggiunse altro. Le scrisse su due tavole di pietra e me le diede. 23 Quando udiste la voce che usciva dalle tenebre, mentre il monte era tutto in fiamme, i vostri capi tribù e i vostri anziani^[1] si accostarono tutti a me, 24 e diceste: “Ecco, il Signore, il nostro Dio, ci ha fatto vedere la sua gloria e la sua maestà e noi abbiamo udito la sua voce dal fuoco; oggi abbiamo visto che Dio ha parlato con l’uomo e l’uomo è rimasto vivo. 25 Ma ora perché dovremmo morire? Questo gran fuoco ci consumerà; noi moriremo se continuiamo a udire la voce del Signore, il nostro Dio. 26 Poiché qual è il mortale, chiunque egli sia, che abbia udito come noi la voce del Dio vivente parlare dal fuoco e sia rimasto vivo? 27 Avvicìnati tu e ascolta tutto ciò che il Signore, il nostro Dio, dirà; poi ci riferirai tutto ciò che il Signore, il nostro Dio, ti avrà detto, e noi lo ascolteremo e lo faremo”. 28 Il Signore udì le vostre parole, mentre mi parlavate; e il Signore mi disse: “Io ho udito le parole che questo popolo ti ha rivolto; tutto quello che hanno detto sta bene. 29 Oh, avessero sempre un simile cuore da temermi e da osservare tutti i miei comandamenti, affinché venga del bene a loro e ai loro figli per sempre! 30 Va’ e di’ loro: ‘Tornate alle vostre tende’. 31 Tu invece resta qui con me e io ti dirò tutti i comandamenti, tutte le leggi e le prescrizioni che insegnerai loro, perché le mettano in pratica nel paese che io do loro in possesso”. 32 Abbiate dunque cura di fare ciò che il Signore, il vostro Dio, vi ha comandato; non ve ne sviate né a destra né a sinistra; 33 camminate in tutto e per tutto per la via che il Signore, il vostro Dio, vi ha prescritta, affinché viviate e siate felici e prolunghiate i vostri giorni nel paese che voi possederete.

1 And Moses summoned all Israel and said to them, “Hear, O Israel, the statutes and the rules that I speak in your hearing today, and you shall learn them and be careful to do them. 2 The LORD our God made a covenant with us in Horeb. 30 Go and say to them, “Return to your tents.” 31 But you, stand here by me, and I will tell you the whole commandment and the statutes and the rules that you shall teach them, that they may do them in the land that I am giving them to possess.’ (غل 3:19) 32 You shall be careful therefore to do as the LORD your God has commanded you.
