1 وَالآنَ أَصْغُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ إِلَى الشَّرَائِعِ وَالأَحْكَامِ الَّتِي أُعَلِّمُهَا لَكُمْ لِتَعْمَلُوا بِها، فَتَحْيَوْا وَتَدْخُلُوا لاِمْتِلاكِ الأَرْضِ الَّتِي يُوَرِّثُهَا لَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ 2 لَا تُضِيفُوا عَلَى مَا أُوصِيكُمْ بِهِ وَلا تُنَقِّصُوا مِنْهُ، بَلْ أَطِيعُوا أَوَامِرَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمُ الَّتِي أُوْصِيكُمْ بِها. 3 لَقَدْ شَهِدَتْ أَعْيُنُكُمْ مَا أَنْزَلَ الرَّبُّ بِبَعْلِ فَغُورَ، إِذْ أَبَادَ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ مِنْ بَيْنِكُمْ كُلَّ مَنْ غَوَى وَرَاءَ بَعْلِ فَغُورَ. 4 وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمُ الَّذِينَ تَعَلَّقْتُمْ بِالرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ فَجَمِيعُكُمْ أَحْيَاءُ الْيَوْمَ. 5 انْظُرُوا، هَا أَنَا قَدْ عَلَّمْتُكُمْ شَرَائِعَ وَأَحْكَاماً كَمَا أَمَرَنِي الرَّبُّ إِلَهِي لِتَعْمَلُوا بِمُوْجِبِهَا فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا. 6 فَاحْفَظُوهَا وَطَبِّقُوهَا، لأَنَّهَا هِيَ حِكْمَتُكُمْ وَفِطْنَتُكُمْ لَدَى الشُّعُوبِ الَّذِينَ يَسْمَعُونَ عَنْ هَذِهِ الشَّرَائِعِ، فَيَقُولُوا: إِنَّ هَذَا الشَّعْبَ الْعَظِيمَ هُوَ حَقّاً شَعْبٌ حَكِيمٌ فَطِنٌ. 7 لأَنَّهُ أَيُّ شَعْبٍ، مَهْمَا عَظُمَ، لَهُ آلِهَةٌ قَرِيبَةٌ مِنْهُ مِثْلُ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِنَا فِي كُلِّ مَا نَدْعُوهُ؟ 8 وَأَيُّ شَعْبٍ، مَهْمَا عَظُمَ، لَدَيْهِ شَرَائِعُ وَأَحْكَامٌ عَادِلَةٌ نَظِيرُ هَذِهِ الشَّرَائِعِ الَّتِي أَضَعُهَا الْيَوْمَ أَمَامَكُمْ؟ 9 إِنَّمَا احْتَرِزُوا وَاحْذَرُوا لِئَلّا تَنْسَوْا الأُمُورَ الَّتِي شَهِدَتْهَا أَعْيُنُكُمْ فَلا تَنْمَحِي مِنْ قُلُوبِكُمْ كُلَّ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِكُمْ. وَعَلِّمُوهَا لأَوْلادِكُمْ وَلأَحْفَادِكُمْ. 10 فَفِي الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي مَثَلْتُمْ فِيهِ أَمَامَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ فِي جَبَلِ حُورِيبَ، حِينَ قَالَ لِي الرَّبُّ: اجْمَعْ لِيَ الشَّعْبَ حَتَّى أُسْمِعَهُمْ كَلامِي، فَيَتَعَلَّمُوا مَخَافَتِي طَوَالَ أَيَّامِ حَيَاتِهِمْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ، وَيُعَلِّمُوا أَوْلادَهُمْ أَيْضاً. 11 فَتَقَدَّمْتُمْ وَوَقَفْتُمْ عِنْدَ سَفْحِ الْجَبَلِ الْمُشْتَعِلِ بِنَارٍ امْتَدَّتْ أَلْسِنَةُ لَهَبِهَا إِلَى كَبِدِ السَّمَاءِ، وَتَلَفَّعَتْ بِسُحُبٍ دَاكِنَةٍ وَضَبَابٍ. 12 فَخَاطَبَكُمُ الرَّبُّ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ، فَسَمِعْتُمْ صَوْتَ كَلِمَاتِهِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ تُبْصِرُوا لَهُ صُورَةً. 13 وَأَعْلَنَ لَكُمْ عَهْدَهُ، الْوَصَايَا الْعَشَرَ الَّتِي نَقَشَهَا عَلَى لَوْحَيْ حَجَرٍ، وَأَمَرَكُمْ أَنْ تَعْمَلُوا بِها. 14 كَمَا أَمَرَنِي فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ أَنْ أُعَلِّمَكُمْ شَرَائِعَهُ وَأَحْكَامَهُ لِتُطَبِّقُوهَا فِي الأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ مَاضُونَ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا. 15 فَاحْذَرُوا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ جِدّاً، فَأَنْتُمْ لَمْ تَرَوْا صُورَةً مَا حِينَ خَاطَبَكُمُ الرَّبُّ فِي جَبَلِ حُورِيبَ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ. 16 لِئَلّا تَفْسَدُوا فَتَنْحَتُوا لَكُمْ تِمْثَالاً لِصُورَةٍ مَا لِمِثَالِ رَجُلٍ أَوِ امْرَأَةٍ. 17 أَوْ شِبْهَ بَهِيمَةٍ مَا مِمَّا عَلَى الأَرْضِ، أَوْ شِبْهَ طَيْرٍ مَا مِنْ طُيُورِ السَّمَاءِ. 18 أَوْ شِبْهَ كَائِنٍ مَا مِنْ زَوَاحِفِ الأَرْضِ، أَوْ شِبْهَ سَمَكٍ مَا مِمَّا فِي الْمَاءِ تَحْتَ الأَرْضِ. 19 أَوْ لِئَلّا تَتَطَلَّعُوا إِلَى السَّمَاءِ فَتُشَاهِدُوا الشَّمْسَ وَالْقَمَرَ وَالنُّجُومَ وَالأَجْرَامَ السَّمَاوِيَّةَ الَّتِي وَزَّعَهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ عَلَى جَمِيعِ الأُمَمِ الَّتِي تَحْتَ السَّمَاءِ، فَتَغْوُوا وَتَسْجُدُوا لَهَا وَتَعْبُدُوهَا. 20 أَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَقَدِ اخْتَارَكُمُ الرَّبُّ وَأَخْرَجَكُمْ مِنْ أَتُونِ الْحَدِيدِ مِنْ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ لِتَكُونُوا لَهُ شَعْبَ مِيرَاثِهِ، كَمَا أَنْتُمُ الْيَوْمَ. 21 وَلَكِنَّ الرَّبَّ غَضِبَ عَلَيَّ مِنْ أَجْلِكُمْ وَأَقْسَمَ أَلّا أَعْبُرَ نَهْرَ الأُرْدُنِّ وَلا أَطَأَ الأَرْضَ الْخَصِيبَةَ الَّتِي وَهَبَكُمْ إِيَّاهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ نَصِيباً. 22 كَذَلِكَ فَأَنَا أَمُوتُ فِي هَذِهِ الأَرْضِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ أَجْتَازَ نَهْرَ الأُرْدُنِّ. وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَتَعْبُرُونَهُ وَتَرِثُونَ تِلْكَ الأَرْضَ الْخَصِيبَةَ. 23 وَلَكِنْ إِيَّاكُمْ أَنْ تَنْسَوْا عَهْدَ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمُ الَّذِي قَطَعَهُ مَعَكُمْ وَتَنْحَتُوا لأَنْفُسِكُمْ تِمْثَالاً لِصُورَةٍ مَا مِمَّا نَهَاكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ عَنْهُ. 24 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ هُوَ نَارٌ آكِلَةٌ وَإِلَهٌ غَيُورٌ. 25 وَإذَا أَنْجَبْتُمْ بَنِينَ وَأَحْفَاداً وَمَكَثْتُمْ طَوِيلاً فِي الأَرْضِ، ثُمَّ غَوَيْتُمْ فَنَحَتُّمْ لَكُمْ تِمْثَالاً لِصُورَةِ شَيْءٍ مَا، وَارْتَكَبْتُمُ الشَّرَّ فِي عَيْنَيِ الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ لإِثَارَةِ غَيْظِهِ، 26 فَإِنَّنِي أُشْهِدُ عَلَيْكُمُ الْيَوْمَ السَّمَاءَ وَالأَرْضَ، أَنَّكُمْ تَنْقَرِضُونَ سَرِيعاً مِنَ الْأَرْضِ الَّتِي أَنْتُمْ عَابِرُونَ نَهْرَ الأُرْدُنِّ إِلَيْهَا لِتَرِثُوهَا، وَلَنْ تَطُولَ بِكُمُ الأَيَّامُ عَلَيْهَا، إِذْ لابُدَّ أَنَّكُمْ حِينَئِذٍ هَالِكُونَ. 27 وَيُشَتِّتُكُمُ الرَّبُّ بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ فَتُصْبِحُونَ أَقَلِّيَّةً بَيْنَ الشُّعُوبِ الَّتِي يَسُوقُكُمْ إِلَيْهَا. 28 وَهُنَاكَ تَعْبُدُونَ آلِهَةً مِنْ خَشَبٍ وَحَجَرٍ مِنْ صَنْعَةِ أَيْدِي النَّاسِ، مِمَّا لَا يُبْصِرُ وَلا يَسْمَعُ وَلا يَأْكُلُ وَلا يَشُمُّ. 29 وَلَكِنْ إِنْ طَلَبْتُمْ مِنْ هُنَاكَ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ، مُلْتَمِسِينَهُ مِنْ كُلِّ قُلُوبِكُمْ وَنُفُوسِكُمْ، فَإِنَّكُمْ تَجِدُونَهُ. 30 فَعِنْدَمَا يَكْتَنِفُكُمُ الضِّيقُ وَتُصِيبُكُمْ فِي آخِرِ الأَيَّامِ جَمِيعُ هَذِهِ الأُمُورِ، عِنْدَئِذٍ تَرْجِعُونَ إِلَى الرَّبِّ إِلَهِكُمْ وَتُطِيعُونَ أَوَامِرَهُ. 31 لأَنَّ الرَّبَّ إِلَهَكُمْ إِلَهٌ رَحِيمٌ لَا يَنْبِذُكُمْ وَلا يُفْنِيكُمْ، وَلا يَنْسَى عَهْدَ آبَائِكُمُ الَّذِي أَقْسَمَ لَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ. 32 فَاسْأَلُوا عَنِ الأَيَّامِ الْغَابِرَةِ الَّتِي انْقَضَتْ قَبْلَكُمْ، مُنْذُ الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي خَلَقَ اللهُ فِيهِ الإِنْسَانَ عَلَى الأَرْضِ. اسْأَلْ مِنْ أَقْصَى السَّمَاوَاتِ إِلَى أَقْصَاهَا: هَلْ حَدَثَ قَطُّ مِثْلُ هَذَا الأَمْرِ الْعَظِيمِ؟ وَهَلْ سَمِعَ أَحَدٌ بِمِثْلِهِ؟ 33 هَلْ سَمِعَتْ أُمَّةٌ صَوْتَ اللهِ يَتَكَلَّمُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ كَمَا سَمِعْتُمْ أَنْتُمْ، وَعَاشَتْ؟ 34 وَهَلْ حَاوَلَ إِلَهٌ قَطُّ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ لِنَفْسِهِ شَعْباً مِنْ وَسَطِ شَعْبٍ آخَرَ مُجْرِياً تَجَارِبَ وَآيَاتٍ وَمُعْجِزَاتٍ وَحُرُوباً وَقُدْرَةً فَائِقَةً وَقُوَّةً شَدِيدَةً وَمَخَاوِفَ عَظِيمَةً كَمَا صَنَعَ مَعَكُمُ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُكُمْ فِي مِصْرَ عَلَى مَرْأَى مِنْكُمْ؟ 35 لَقَدِ اطَّلَعْتُمْ عَلَى هَذِهِ كُلِّهَا لِتَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ الرَّبَّ هُوَ الإِلَهُ، وَلَيْسَ آخَرَ سِوَاهُ. 36 فَقَدْ أَسْمَعَكُمْ صَوْتَهُ مِنَ السَّمَاءِ لِيُنْذِرَكُمْ. وَأَرَاكُمْ نَارَهُ الْعَظِيمَةَ عَلَى الْأَرْضِ، وَسَمِعْتُمْ صَوْتَهُ مِنْ وَسَطِ النَّارِ. 37 وَلأَنَّهُ قَدْ أَحَبَّ آبَاءَكُمْ، وَاخْتَارَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِهِمْ، أَخْرَجَكُمْ بِنَفْسِهِ وَبِقُدْرَتِهِ الْعَظِيمَةِ مِنْ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ، 38 وَطَرَدَ مِنْ أَمَامِكُمْ أُمَماً أَكْبَرَ مِنْكُمْ وَأَعْظَمَ، لِيَأْتِيَ بِكُمْ إِلَى أَرْضِهِمْ وَيُوَرِّثَكُمْ إِيَّاهَا، كَمَا حَدَثَ فِي هَذَا الْيَوْمِ. 39 فَاعْتَرِفُوا الْيَوْمَ وَرَدِّدُوا فِي قُلُوبِكُمْ قَائِلِينَ: إِنَّ الرَّبَّ هُوَ الإِلَهُ فِي السَّمَاءِ مِنْ فَوْقُ، وَعَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنْ تَحْتُ وَلَيْسَ إِلَهٌ سِوَاهُ. 40 فَاحْفَظُوا الْيَوْمَ مَا أُوْصِيكُمْ بِهِ مِنْ شَرَائِعِهِ وَأَحْكَامِهِ لِيُحْسِنَ الرَّبُّ إِلَيْكُمْ وَإِلَى أَوْلادِكُمْ مِنْ بَعْدِكُمْ، فَيُطِيلَ أَيَّامَكُمْ عَلَى الأَرْضِ الَّتِي وَهَبَكُمْ إِيَّاهَا إِلَى الأَبَدِ. 41 ثُمَّ خَصَّصَ مُوسَى ثَلاثَ مُدُنٍ شَرْقِيَّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، 42 لِيَلْجَأَ إِلَيْهَا الْقَاتِلُ غَيْرُ الْمُتَعَمِّدِ، الَّذِي لَا يَضْمِرُ عَدَاءً سَابِقاً لِلْقَتِيلِ، فَيَجِدُ فِي إِحْدَى تِلْكَ الْمُدُنِ مَلْجَأً وَيَحْيَا. 43 أَمَّا هَذِهِ الْمُدُنُ فَكانَتْ: بَاصَرَ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ فِي أَرْضِ السَّهْلِ فِي دِيَارِ الرَّأُوبَيْنِيِّينَ وَرَامُوتَ فِي جِلْعَادَ فِي بِلادِ الْجَادِيِّينَ، وَجُولانَ فِي بَاشَانَ فِي مِنْطَقَةِ الْمَنَسِّيِّينَ. 44 وَهَذِهِ هِيَ الشَّرِيعَةُ الَّتِي وَضَعَهَا أَمَامَ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، 45 وَهَذِهِ هِيَ الشُّرُوطُ وَالْفَرَائِضُ وَالأَحْكَامُ الَّتِي خَاطَبَ بِها مُوسَى بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ عِنْدَ خُرُوجِهِمْ مِنْ مِصْرَ، 46 وَهُمْ مُخَيِّمُونَ شَرْقِيَّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، فِي الْوَادِي بِجِوَارِ بَيْتِ فَغُورَ فِي أَرْضِ سِيحُونَ مَلِكِ الأَمُورِيِّينَ الَّذِي كَانَ مُقِيماً فِي حَشْبُونَ، فَقَضَى عَلَيْهِ مُوسَى وَالإِسْرَائِيلِيُّونَ عِنْدَ خُرُوجِهِمْ مِنْ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ. 47 فَامْتَلَكُوا بِلادَهُ وَبِلادَ عُوجٍ مَلِكِ بَاشَانَ، مَلِكَيِ الأَمُورِيِّينَ اللَّذَيْنِ كَانَا مُقِيمَيْنِ شَرْقِيَّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، 48 مِنْ عَرُوعِيرَ الْوَاقِعَةِ عَلَى حَافَةِ وَادِي أَرْنُونَ، إِلَى جَبَلِ سِيئُونَ الَّذِي هُوَ حَرْمُونُ، 49 وَكُلَّ وَادِي الْعَرَبَةِ شَرْقِيَّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ، حَتَّى الْبَحْرِ الْمَيِّتِ عِنْدَ سُفُوحِ الْفِسْجَةِ.

1 «Ora dunque, Israele, da’ ascolto alle leggi e alle prescrizioni che io v’insegno perché le mettiate in pratica, affinché viviate ed entriate in possesso del paese che il Signore, il Dio dei vostri padri, vi dà. 2 Non aggiungerete nulla a ciò che io vi comando e non ne toglierete nulla, ma osserverete i comandamenti del Signore vostro Dio, che io vi prescrivo. 3 I vostri occhi videro ciò che il Signore fece nel caso di Baal-Peor: il Signore, il vostro Dio, distrusse in mezzo a voi tutti quelli che erano andati dietro a Baal-Peor; 4 ma voi, che vi teneste stretti al Signore vostro Dio, siete oggi tutti in vita. 5 Ecco, io vi ho insegnato leggi e prescrizioni, come il Signore, il mio Dio, mi ha ordinato, perché le mettiate in pratica nel paese nel quale vi accingete a entrare per prenderne possesso. 6 Le osserverete dunque e le metterete in pratica, perché quella sarà la vostra sapienza e la vostra intelligenza agli occhi dei popoli, i quali, udendo parlare di tutte queste leggi, diranno: “Questa grande nazione è il solo popolo savio e intelligente!” 7 Qual è infatti la grande nazione alla quale la divinità sia così vicina come è vicino a noi il Signore, il nostro Dio, ogni volta che lo invochiamo? 8 Qual è la grande nazione che abbia leggi e prescrizioni giuste come è tutta questa legge che io vi espongo oggi? 9 Soltanto, bada bene a te stesso e guàrdati dal dimenticare le cose che i tuoi occhi hanno viste, ed esse non ti escano dal cuore finché duri la tua vita. Anzi, falle sapere ai tuoi figli e ai figli dei tuoi figli. 10 Ricòrdati del giorno che comparisti davanti al Signore, al tuo Dio, in Oreb, quando il Signore mi disse: “Radunami il popolo e io farò loro udire le mie parole, perché essi imparino a temermi tutto il tempo che vivranno sulla terra e le insegnino ai loro figli”. 11 Voi vi avvicinaste e vi fermaste ai piedi del monte; e il monte era tutto in fiamme, che si innalzavano fino al cielo; vi erano tenebre, nuvole e oscurità. 12 E dal fuoco il Signore vi parlò; voi udiste il suono delle parole, ma non vedeste nessuna figura; non udiste che una voce. 13 Egli vi annunciò il suo patto, che vi comandò di osservare, cioè i dieci comandamenti, e li scrisse su due tavole di pietra. 14 A me, in quel tempo, il Signore ordinò d’insegnarvi leggi e prescrizioni, perché voi le mettiate in pratica nel paese dove ora entrerete per prenderne possesso. 15 Siccome non vedeste nessuna figura il giorno che il Signore vi parlò in Oreb dal fuoco, badate bene a voi stessi, 16 affinché non vi corrompiate e non vi facciate qualche scultura, la rappresentazione di qualche idolo, la figura di un uomo o di una donna, 17 la figura di uno degli animali della terra, la figura di un uccello che vola nei cieli, 18 la figura di una bestia che striscia sul suolo, la figura di un pesce che vive nelle acque sotto la terra; 19 e anche affinché, alzando gli occhi al cielo e vedendo il sole, la luna, le stelle, tutto l’esercito celeste, tu non ti senta attratto a prostrarti davanti a quelle cose e a offrire loro un culto, perché quelle sono le cose che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ha lasciato per tutti i popoli che sono sotto tutti i cieli. 20 Quanto a voi, il Signore vi ha presi, vi ha fatti uscire dalla fornace di ferro, dall’Egitto, per farvi diventare il popolo che gli appartiene, come oggi difatti siete. 21 Or il Signore si adirò contro di me a causa vostra, e giurò che io non avrei oltrepassato il Giordano e non sarei entrato nel buon paese che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti dà in eredità. 22 Infatti io dovrò morire in questo paese senza passare il Giordano, ma voi lo passerete e possederete quel buon paese. 23 Guardatevi dal dimenticare il patto che il Signore, il vostro Dio, ha stabilito con voi e dal farvi una scultura che sia immagine di qualsiasi cosa che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti ha proibita. 24 Poiché il Signore, il tuo Dio, è un fuoco che divora, un Dio geloso. 25 Quando avrai dei figli e dei figli dei tuoi figli e sarete stati a lungo nel paese, se vi corrompete, se vi fate una scultura che sia immagine di una cosa qualsiasi, se fate ciò che è male agli occhi del Signore, il vostro Dio, e lo irritate, 26 io chiamo oggi come testimoni contro di voi il cielo e la terra, che voi ben presto perirete, scomparirete dal paese di cui andate a prendere possesso di là del Giordano. Voi non ci vivrete a lungo, ma sarete interamente distrutti. 27 Il Signore vi disperderà fra i popoli e solo un piccolo numero di voi sopravviverà in mezzo alle nazioni dove il Signore vi condurrà. 28 Là servirete dèi fatti da mano d’uomo, dèi di legno e di pietra, i quali non vedono, non odono, non mangiano, non annusano. 29 Ma di là cercherai il Signore, il tuo Dio, e lo troverai, se lo cercherai con tutto il tuo cuore e con tutta l’anima tua. 30 Nella tua angoscia, quando tutte queste cose ti saranno accadute, negli ultimi tempi, tornerai al Signore, al tuo Dio, e darai ascolto alla sua voce; 31 poiché il Signore, il tuo Dio, è un Dio misericordioso; egli non ti abbandonerà e non ti distruggerà, non dimenticherà il patto che giurò ai tuoi padri. 32 Ricerca pure nei tempi antichi, che furono prima di te, dal giorno che Dio creò l’uomo sulla terra; chiedi da un’estremità dei cieli all’altra: “Ci fu mai cosa grande come questa? Si udì mai cosa simile a questa? 33 Ci fu mai un popolo che abbia udito la voce di Dio che parlava dal fuoco come l’hai udita tu, e che sia rimasto vivo? 34 Ci fu mai un dio che abbia cercato di venire a prendersi una nazione di mezzo a un’altra nazione mediante prove, segni, miracoli e battaglie, con mano potente e con braccio steso e con gesta tremende, come fece per voi il Signore, il vostro Dio, in Egitto, sotto i vostri occhi?” 35 Tu sei stato fatto testimone di queste cose affinché tu riconosca che il Signore è Dio, e che oltre a lui non ve n’è nessun altro. 36 Dal cielo ti ha fatto udire la sua voce per ammaestrarti; e sulla terra ti ha fatto vedere il suo grande fuoco e tu hai udito le sue parole venire dal fuoco. 37 Egli ha amato i tuoi padri; perciò ha scelto i loro discendenti dopo di loro. Egli in persona ti ha fatto uscire dall’Egitto con la sua grande potenza, 38 per scacciare davanti a te nazioni più grandi e più potenti di te, per farti entrare nel loro paese e per dartene il possesso, come oggi si vede. 39 Sappi dunque oggi e ritieni bene nel tuo cuore che il Signore è Dio, lassù nei cieli e quaggiù sulla terra; e che non ve n’è alcun altro. 40 Osserva dunque le sue leggi e i suoi comandamenti che oggi ti do, affinché siate felici tu e i tuoi figli dopo di te, e affinché tu prolunghi per sempre i tuoi giorni nel paese che il Signore, il tuo Dio, ti dà». 41 Allora Mosè scelse tre città di là dal Giordano, verso oriente, 42 perché servissero di rifugio all’omicida che avesse ucciso il suo prossimo involontariamente, senza averlo odiato in precedenza, e perché egli potesse fuggire in una di quelle città e rimanere in vita. 43 Esse furono Beser, nel deserto, nella pianura, per i Rubeniti; Ramot, in Galaad, per i Gaditi, e Golan, in Basan, per i Manassiti. 44 Questa è la legge che Mosè espose ai figli d’Israele. 45 Queste sono le istruzioni, le leggi e le prescrizioni che Mosè diede ai figli d’Israele quando furono usciti dall’Egitto, 46 di là dal Giordano, nella valle di fronte a Bet-Peor, nel paese di Sicon, re degli Amorei, che abitava a Chesbon, e che Mosè e i figli d’Israele sconfissero dopo essere usciti dall’Egitto. 47 Essi si impossessarono del suo paese e del paese di Og, re di Basan – due re amorei che stavano di là dal Giordano, verso oriente – 48 da Aroer, che è all’inizio della valle dell’Arnon, fino al monte Sion, che è l’Ermon, 49 con tutta la pianura oltre il Giordano, verso oriente, fino al mare della pianura[1] sotto le pendici del Pisga.

1 “And now, O Israel, listen to the statutes and the rules[1] that I am teaching you, and do them, that you may live, and go in and take possession of the land that the LORD, the God of your fathers, is giving you. (لا 18:4; تث 6:24; تث 8:1) 2 You shall not add to the word that I command you, nor take from it, that you may keep the commandments of the LORD your God that I command you. (تث 12:32; يش 1:7; أم 30:6; رؤ 22:18; رؤ 22:19) 3 Your eyes have seen what the LORD did at Baal-peor, for the LORD your God destroyed from among you all the men who followed the Baal of Peor. (تث 3:10; يش 20:8; يش 21:36; 1أخ 6:78) 44 This is the law that Moses set before the people of Israel. 45 These are the testimonies, the statutes, and the rules, which Moses spoke to the people of Israel when they came out of Egypt, 46 beyond the Jordan in the valley opposite Beth-peor, in the land of Sihon the king of the Amorites, who lived at Heshbon, whom Moses and the people of Israel defeated when they came out of Egypt.
