For seven days you shall keep the feast to the Lord your God at the place that the Lord will choose, because the Lord your God will bless you in all your produce and in all the work of your hands, so that you will be altogether joy
Because you did not serve the Lord your God with joy
fulness and gladness of heart, because of the abundance of all things,
Then her husband arose and went after her, to speak kindly to her and bring her back. He had with him his servant and a couple of donkeys. And she brought him into her father’s house. And when the girl’s father saw him, he came with joy
to meet him.
As they were coming home, when David returned from striking down the Philistine, the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing, to meet King Saul, with tambourines, with songs of joy
, and with musical instruments.
And all the people went up after him, playing on pipes, and rejoicing with great joy
, so that the earth was split by their noise.
On the eighth day he sent the people away, and they blessed the king and went to their homes joy
ful and glad of heart for all the goodness that the Lord had shown to David his servant and to Israel his people.
And also their relatives, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on donkeys and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of flour, cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy
David also commanded the chiefs of the Levites to appoint their brothers as the singers who should play loudly on musical instruments, on harps and lyres and cymbals, to raise sounds of joy
Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy
are in his place.
Then shall the trees of the forest sing for joy
before the Lord, for he comes to judge the earth.
I know, my God, that you test the heart and have pleasure in uprightness. In the uprightness of my heart I have freely offered all these things, and now I have seen your people, who are present here, offering freely and joy

So there was great joy
in Jerusalem, for since the time of Solomon the son of David king of Israel there had been nothing like this in Jerusalem.
But many of the priests and Levites and heads of fathers’ houses, old men who had seen the first house, wept with a loud voice when they saw the foundation of this house being laid, though many shouted aloud for joy
so that the people could not distinguish the sound of the joy
ful shout from the sound of the people’s weeping, for the people shouted with a great shout, and the sound was heard far away.
And the people of Israel, the priests and the Levites, and the rest of the returned exiles, celebrated the dedication of this house of God with joy
And they kept the Feast of Unleavened Bread seven days with joy
, for the Lord had made them joy
ful and had turned the heart of the king of Assyria to them, so that he aided them in the work of the house of God, the God of Israel.
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat and drink sweet wine and send portions to anyone who has nothing ready, for this day is holy to our Lord. And do not be grieved, for the joy
of the Lord is your strength.”
And they offered great sacrifices that day and rejoiced, for God had made them rejoice with great joy
; the women and children also rejoiced. And the joy
of Jerusalem was heard far away.
And Haman went out that day joy
ful and glad of heart. But when Haman saw Mordecai in the king’s gate, that he neither rose nor trembled before him, he was filled with wrath against Mordecai.
Then his wife Zeresh and all his friends said to him, “Let a gallows fifty cubits high be made, and in the morning tell the king to have Mordecai hanged upon it. Then go joy
fully with the king to the feast.” This idea pleased Haman, and he had the gallows made.
The Jews had light and gladness and joy
And in every province and in every city, wherever the king’s command and his edict reached, there was gladness and joy
among the Jews, a feast and a holiday. And many from the peoples of the country declared themselves Jews, for fear of the Jews had fallen on them.
Behold, let that night be barren; let no joy
ful cry enter it.
Behold, this is the joy
of his way, and out of the soil others will spring.
that the exulting of the wicked is short, and the joy
